Butted beds

There's that stunning Jenny Lind design bed again! I do love that bed. But I love it even more when there are two of them! How lovely to push the sibs beds together like this? Not only does it create more space - but I'd imagine it creates more closeness too. And we can never have enough of that can we?

Tuesday Tour: The room and the rest

The room.

The rest.

Note the can of Heinz Baked Beanz amongst all that lovely Swedish styling...

Style that leaves me speechless - in a good way.

I just adore every square millimetre of this room. All of it. Take a moment to just stare at all the details.

Modern industrial love

As I plunge further into my studio makeover with white fingertips from leaking cans of spray paint, I thought I'd share a few more inspirational images of work spaces I covet...

Colour forecast

I've always been fascinated by trend forecasting. The idea of roaming the globe, scouring the streets for the next cool thing... What an inspirational career! If only my year 12 careers advisor had mentioned such possibilities in 1988...
Well, as it usually happens, when something piques my interest, I tend to get "into" it - and so it is with trends and me. Sometimes I'm on the money, other times.... At the risk of being completely off base and looking a bit silly, I'm going to put myself out there and make one very big call... That is that the next colour palette to turn up in our homes will be one of olives, figs and sages. They'll be muted - nothing grassy or foresty, and they'll be balanced with pops of plum and aubergine. Something like what's already creeping into the Pinterest boards if you look closely... At the very least, I like the idea and I hope it happens that way.

YOU are going love THIS!

Like it? I love it. Would you believe the boys did this? Ah yes, they're a talented pair! Let me tell you how... I found this idea over at Modern Parents Messy Kids. It's an oldie but a goodie and if you Google milk food colouring experiment you'll get millions of hits with You Tube tutorials and the like... However, you don't need any of that because you have me!
All you need is a baking tray, full cream milk (full cream works better than other varieties for some scientific reason I don't understand), food colouring, dishwashing liquid and toothpicks. Simply pour milk into your baking dish to a depth of a couple of centimetres, drip in a few drops of each colour food colouring you want to use around the dish, dip your toothpick in dishwashing liquid and start moving the toothpick through the milk. The dishsoap reacts with the colour and makes it radiate away from your toothpick creating these amazing marble patterns.
Now sadly I didn't realise this was going to be as awesome as it turned out to be and only had my iPhone on hand for a shot, but let me assure you that this is one activity that will be repeated at our place and next time I'll have the proper camera ready to get a good picture. Reason? Well, I think this will look amazing on my living room wall. Officeworks do huge prints for pretty reasonable prices and I'd like to mount a print of one of these onto board to hang on our wall. I figure it'll make me happy to have a lovely splash of colour to look at and it'll give the boys a kick to see their very own creation so big on display. I'll post a pic when it's up (but be patient, I'm not super quick at these things...).

Office space blues...

Loving this combination of the light raw timber against deep sea blue walls... And of course I can only dream of an office space so well organised...

By popular demand...

I've been caught out. A few friends of mine who read NooshLoves keenly spotted the fact that I cheated a little the other day and didn't show you the actual crayon masterpiece we created. Soooo, here is ours. It's made me want to do some kind of large scale colour piece with the boys for our living room. Perhaps with the crayola branding absent?

Happy Spring!!!!

It's the first day of Spring in Australia today! And while the weather might be a little mixed up giving us jasmine in full bloom some 3 weeks early, the warm days and milder nights filled with sweet scents makes me happy. The boys have been outside most of the day playing with the sand and the tap... Winter is in our rearview mirror for yet another year and we have around 9 months of glorious sunshine to look forward to! I love Sydney.... But hey, Paris is nice too....

Get your chalk on...

Did you know a blackboard doesn't have to be black? It doesn't have to be a board either. It can be round, red and on a wall! In fact, it can be almost any colour you like! Check out the range...
These ones above are from Porters Paints...

And these ones are The Society Inc. colours from Murobond.
The grey on the bottom row is divine - it's the one I used on the boys beds... They still don't know their beds are actually blackboards - I might just die if they were to take to them with chalk! But the ultra matte finish chalkboard paint gives is unmatched by any other paint masquerading as ultra matte.
So don't be dull! Think outside the square and get your chalk on!
