Style it up - Gorgeous Gift Wrap!

Hello gorgeous wrapping! When I first saw this I thought "So pretty but who'd have the time?" I was suitably surprised to see it's actually not that hard. I'm keeping this one in mind for mothers day...

1-2 yards of ribbon in various tones, about 2″-3″ in width
Miscellaneous material, such as burlap, knit sweaters, etc…

Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Cut several pieces of ribbon in 3″-5″ increments, depending upon desired size of your finished pom. Do the same with material, sweaters and burlap.
2. Make a large stack, alternating each color and type of material. Using your twine, tie a very tight knot around the center of the entire stack.
3. Cut your ribbon into smaller strips, keeping the center uncut. Separate and pull strips apart to make your completed pom!

Playroom makeover inspiration

I'm on a mission at the moment. I'm determined to finish all my half finished projects (read: rooms). And the first room on the agenda is the playroom, which doubles as a guest room. I have some ideas (one of which is those fabulous IKEA book display shelves for $2.50 each) as well as a few other bits and bobs to make the space look good and provide easy entertainment for the boys. I'll show you some before and afters when it's finished. For the time-being you'll have to just be content with some inspirational gems I picked up around the place...

Feel the noise

This is such a cool idea that I'm almost persuaded to make one for my boys. Almost....

Party theme of the week: Golf

My husband is a golfer. When I saw this party theme on How Does She? I have to confess to thinking of creating something similar for his birthday later in the year. It'd be extra great too if you held it at a Putt Putt or Mini Golf place. You know, I think he'd probably love it...

How to lose your children

Well, not actually "lose them" but lose the weight they made you gain... If you haven't already, it's time to put your New Year's resolutions into action and for me one of those was to lose some weight. This is a super huge ask though when you're a busy mum and are coping with all that comes with being a mum. For a start, there's sleep deprivation, working, cleaning, cooking, trying to eat healthily, exercise and of course find fabulous and interesting things to share with lovely people like you!

But I may have found a solution... I stumbled across Lose Baby Weight through a design job I've been working on and I have to say, it sounds like quite the gift from the gods. They have developed easy plans to follow especially for busy mums, and they fit in around your lifestyle which makes following them and losing the weight not so hard. It sounds convincing doesn't it?

Here's a little You Tube clip from the clever LBW crew that gives you five easy to follow exercises that will help your core, legs, bum and arms. Best part is they can be done in 5 minute intervals during the day rather than you trying to fit in a 45 minute work out session. Click here to see the video. And hop over to the website and have a snoop around - there are some great recipes and ideas.

You can thank me later...

Green back to school bags - in other colours...

Another thing I love is that kids are being offered the option to make green choices! Here's an environmentally responsible selection of back packs chosen by Flavia over at Petit Eco Kids

Little Chillies heat up

If you haven't already discovered Little Chillies, here's a taste of what you've been missing...
Really cute don't you think? (I wish there was a brand that made dresses with matching fabric shoes for grown ups.) Up until now, their range has only produced designs up to size 2, but the great news is that like so many Australian online businesses, the Chillies are growing! They've enlisted a pattern maker and new fabric suppliers and will be wholesaling their new designs (that will now extend up to size 4) from February. So keep an eye out for Little Chillies at your favourite spots both online and instore, but in the meantime, head over to their site (here) where you can still buy their designs direct. (and you'll be able to say, "Little Chillies? I knew them back when...")...

little pink clouds of goodness...

Remember my post floaty fluffy fings? Well, if you love a pompom, you're definitely going to go ga-ga over these. Handmade from tulle these pink delights are like clouds of pure perfection. They're from the home of Florence Rolando, children's fashion and design specialist and contributor to Milk Magazine. Her whole house is filled with design elements of the playful variety which strikes a chord very close to my heart. Have a look at her whole home here.

Random: A perfect king amongst men

"Getting through the mid stage of your life with your dignity and judgment in tact can be somewhat precarious and sometimes all you need is a bit of gentle reassurance to keep on track. I don’t know if this qualifies as gentle reassurance, but right now this is all that stands between me and a Harley Davidson. I owe a very great debt to my supernaturally talented fellow cast members, my exquisite no-nonsense Queen Helena, and my wayward royal older brother Guy. Geoffrey Rush and Tom Hooper, my two other sides of a surprisingly robust triangle of man-love, somehow moved forward in perfect formation for the last year and a half or so. Tom with his scorching intelligence and Geoffrey who has now become my true friend and geisha girl. David Sidler, I know the value of longevity in my relationships, Harvey Weinstein has made an improbable number of good films. We have had 20 years together, which is not bad going for a showbiz marriage. Thank you, Harvey. But the very best thing of all has been Livia, [his wife] and all the beautiful things she’s given me and I think I can cope with just about any age as long as I can still see her.”
Colin Firth's acceptance speech for Best Actor on sunday night...

Such wonderful words. Too good not to share (in case you missed them).

How divine? One day, when I have a beach house weekender, this will be how I do the kids room. Enough beds for friends to stay too... Sigh.

Today I had an urge to make something for you so I got myself comfy at my desk (AKA the dining table) and set to work designing a gift card that you could print and use free of charge for any occassion.
